The staff were friendly and helpful, providing great service throughout our stay. The location of the hostel was ideal, just a short walk away from the city center and attractions. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, allowing us to prepare our own meals comfortably.
The cleanliness of the hostel was a bit lacking, with hair found in the beds and some areas not being properly maintained. The noise level was also a concern for light sleepers, as it could be quite disruptive at times.

The location was absolutely fantastic, just a short stroll away from all the cool shops, restaurants, and awesome art galleries. Plus, it was super close to the Saturday Farmers' Market and the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum. Our room was spacious and the bed was incredibly comfy, giving us a much-needed good night's sleep. The staff were so helpful and even carried our heavy luggage up the stairs for us. The free breakfast was a delightful surprise, and we loved jamming out to our favorite tunes with the CD player in the kitchen. And the cherry on top? They offered a hassle-free full refund when we needed to check out early. AMAZING!

The facilities were well-equipped and offered free DVD hire and PlayStation, which was a fun way to unwind in the evenings. The staff were friendly and organized entertaining games at night for those who wanted to join.- The location was great, being just outside of the main hustle and bustle but still easily accessible to all the main shops and attractions.
The cleanliness of the accommodation left much to be desired. There were stained sheets on the bunk beds, dirty toilets with no toilet paper, and overall lack of maintenance.

We absolutely loved the communal areas at this hostel. the kitchen is well-equipped, there are plenty of bathrooms, and the living room has an abundance of comfortable sofas. It was wonderful to have so much space to relax and socialize. the staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly, providing us with maps and recommendations for things to do and see in the area. the free WiFi and ongoing refurbishments made our stay even better.
We felt so at home during our stay at Geeky Gecko Backpackers that we have no complaints whatsoever.

We were pleasantly surprised by the location of the hotel, being conveniently close to the city center and all its amenities. the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with a big TV for entertainment. the kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy for us to prepare our meals. the lounge area was impressive, with free WiFi, a Playstation, and plenty of comfortable couches to relax on.
It was disappointing to find that the ablution facilities had some issues, such as dripping taps and lights that didn't work.

I recently stayed at Geeky Gecko Backpackers for a few days while exploring the city. The location was perfect - close to the town center but on a quiet street. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm and cosy, even on a cold day. Despite it being low season, the hostel was fairly quiet. The highlight for me was the fantastic breakfast, served in a spacious kitchen and lounge area. The wooden furniture added a nice touch and made me feel more comfortable. The hostel was also clean and well-lit, with easy access to the Octagon. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
I highly recommend this hotel.
